Oh hi there! I have two favorite scientists (hope that is ok!) the first one is Dr Karl. you know the funny scientist that wears all those happy shirts with all those fun patterns on them? I like him heaps because he tries to teach people about why science is awesome and he shows us that science is Everywhere! I also had a day where Dr Karl and I shared a choc-mint ice cream together. That was so cool! The other scientist is my second boss Dr Nick Coleman. He spends a lot of his time working with bacteria that we can use to clean up our natural environments which we polluted with nasty chemicals. Some of these chemicals include explosive substance left behind from war! So yay to bacteria and yay to awesome scientist! 😀
I think my favourite at the moment is Professor Brian Cox. I saw him give a lecture a couple of weekends ago, and he had an audience of about 2500 people all totally fascinated just by talking about a blade of grass!
Any scientist who can share how much they love their science is okay by me. Also he has really great hair 🙂
Ian Frazer! I think the journey he made to get to where his HPV vaccine got is incredible. There is so much you can learn from that story about how hard it can be in science and how much work goes in to getting big things done like he did. You can read some on him here:
My favorite scientist is Rosalind Franklin as she did the experiments and produced the data that led Watson and Crick to work out that DNA was a helix. She was a bit of a victim of sexist attitudes at the time and unfortunately died very young (in her 30s) of ovarian cancer…and I always like to imagine the fabulous discoveries she could have made if she had lived longer!
