Question: Do you enjoy being a scientist. If so why?

Keywords:

  1. There are days when I love being a scientist and then there are days when I wished I was running my own little cafe and cake shop! But honestly those days are rare. But most days yes! Science is not just something you study from a textbook, science is a way of life! So I figured, as long as I am asking questions, and as long as I am trying to find an answer to the questions, life is sweet and I love being a scientist! 😀

  2. I LOVE being a scientist! Just the same as in any job, sometimes it can be tough. The thing about science is that no one has done your research before, so there are times when things just won’t work no matter what you seem to try, and it can go on for a while and be very frustrating. BUT, in the end it works out and it’s just so amazing what you can accomplish. I love being a scientist because very day that I go to work, I know that I will discover something (no matter how big or small) that NO ONE has ever discovered in the history of the world before! How many other jobs can you do where every day you become the first person in the world to learn something new about your topic? Not many! Science is the best!

  4. Yes I LOOOVE being a scientist…..but it is sometimes a very hard job as all of the other non sciencey things get in the way! Like when I have to keep asking for special permission, in writing, ALL THE TIME to do the experiments I want to do! Everytime I think up a new experiment, i have to fill in about 50-100 pages of permission forms, which is really boring and takes me out of the lab and into my office (not as fun!). I have now reached that time in my science career that requires me to do LOTS of this admin stuff, so I have students to do my work in the lab for me. So they get all the fun and I get all of the paperwork…! But if it means we get to find cures for diseases, then it is all good!!

  5. Hi tianimarietahere (and others!)

I do enjoy being a scientist. It’s a really exciting job to have, and you get to meet some amazing people from all over the world. In my research group, we have people from Australia, New Zealand, Israel, China, South Korea, Germany, the Maldives, and we work with even more people from Canada and Japan… get to meet so many people with so many backgrounds!

It’s also a fantastic feeling when you’re exploring something new, and learning something different every day. : )
