I am not sure of an exact number of viruses in dogs, but basing it on overall data I’d say A LOT! There are over 5,000 viruses described, and there is expected to be up to millions of different types (there are lots we haven’t even discovered yet!). You can even argue that there are an infinite number of viruses because they change so rapidly that they are always forming new species (that’s why you need a flu injection every year!). Some of the viruses can infect dogs and humans (there are some viruses that don’t bother us except for a cold, but are deadly to dogs), and some just one of us.
