We meet again Jacob hehe Being a scientist has its great days and sometimes it has sad days. Its a little bit like a crazy and wild roller-coaster ride (which I love!) There are days when your experiments work and you have done all your work and you are smiling and happy! But there are days when all you do is go to boring meetings and sit there wondering why an experiment didn’t work! To get over this sad and bad in science you might read something, go for a run, talk to other scientist and soon you realize that EVERY roller caster has a dip, and after a wild and steep dip comes the awesome climb! 🙂 I love the thrill of the rollercoaster like I love the thrill of science!
Hmm, sometimes it’s hard. Best thing I can compare it to is a really long video game, where you get stuck on one level for ages and can’t see a solution through (you guys are too young for Legend of Zelda, right? That’s what I normally think being a scientist is like… getting through dungeons…)
But eventually you spot a clue, or you ask your friends for help (like cheatcodes!) and you get to move on to the next bit.
It’s hard, but it’s the fun kind of hard, where you always have a new challenge. : )
Hey again jacob! It’s hard being a scientist every day, because every day you are making new discoveries. And sometimes your experiments won’t work and you just can’t figure out why. That doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable though. It’s hard in a good way. It challenges you and makes you want to achieve more!
It can be hard being a scientist …but only from a frustration point of view! It is hard ‘get over it’ when an experiment you have been working on goes belly up and doesn’t work. People that stay in science (as oppose to get other jobs instead) all seem to have crazy levels of optimism and persistence! I think these qualities are necessary to succeed as a scientist as experiments FAIL 9/10. But that one time in ten when it works…feels amazing and makes you forget all the failures that have gone before!

Sometimes it id hard – Like when everything goes wrong!! You drop important samples or a machine breaks down while ruining your experiment!
